Air Scharnell is a family owned and operated retail store in Colorado. We opened Air Scharnell in 2003, only after 2 years prior of working out of our garage building and repairing aircraft for others. Frank has been building and flying for over 30 years starting in the hobby/sport with his dad in 1973, he also has been instructing rc flying since he was 14 years old. Jan, after a day visiting with Frank in the garage while he was building an airplane became very interested in the building, repairing and covering aspect of the hobby in 2001. Both of our boys, Frank (Quad) & Rick came into the hobby in 2001. Quad was 10 soon to be 11 at that time and Rick was 7 soon to turn 8 as they learned to fly with their dad. Since then Quad & his dad, Frank, have competed in Pattern, IMAC and Combat. Rick loves to fly fast and furious and has competed in Combat with his brother and dad for the last 4 years. Combat became their love of flying through competition. Between the 3 of them, they have basically flown every aspect of RC Aircraft. Frank loves to fly his helicopter in his spare time. James joined our Team in 2004 with his mastering in building and repairing of just about anything. He has been building aircraft for over 20 years and is excellent with engine and electrical equipment repairs. We consider him a “Master Builder”. James started in combat competition at the end of the 2006 season and is having a ball!
Air Scharnell is more or less a “Mom and Pop” shop, a retail store specializing in only RC Aircraft. We call ourselves a full service store as we build, repair and cover along with flight inspections, installation of all radio and engine equipment, and setting up aircraft to make them “flight ready” right here in the store for local customers. With Frank being an instructor, and Quad being in training to be an instructor and now taking on the Avenger Combat plane line, I guess we are definitely a full service store! With so little Customer Service in the world today, we make that our #1 priority. Every Customer that graces our doorstep is considered our friend and/or family and is treated as such. We share our knowledge and flying stories, and encourage others to do the same. We have a lot of Customers who if in the area will just stop in to say “hi” and have pleasant conversation. We want everyone to feel very comfortable and leave here with the satisfaction of information they were seeking. We’ve even been known to teach others to fly electric aircraft right behind the store in the undeveloped field.
Our promise to our customers is to have a smile on our face when they walk in the door and to try to satisfy their Aircraft needs to the best of our abilities. Our promise to our online/phone customers is to help with their needs as quickly and promptly as we possibly can, keeping quality and customer service along with the lowest prices we can offer in our products….again with a smile!
